Today is international woman’s day and this year’s theme invites us all to be bold for change. #ChooseToChallenge is a theme that encourages us all to be alert and to call out gender inequality
We are living in a world of incredible contrasts, on one hand we have made tremendous inroads towards equality, but at the same time there is still so much work to be done.
To honour the progress that we have made, let’s take a moment to remember the many inspiring people who came before us and fought for change. They persevered and sacrificed in face of grave challenges. They believed the future could be better.
It’s because our mothers, and grandmothers and great grandmothers held on to a dream of a better future, that progress has been made over generations.
From Harriet Tubman, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Marie Curie, Malala Yousafzai and Amelia Earhart our world is full of bold, courageous woman, who have paved the way for future generations to come.
So today to honour the work that we still need to do, perhaps we can reflect on ways that we can be a little more bold in our lives whether its speaking out in the face of inequality, standing up for someone who has been marginalised, or living an ideal that we want to see brought into this world. This work that we can all do, no matter what gender we identify with.
Today at Medella Life we are choosing to challenge:
Equal pay and benefits for comparable roles.
Equal consideration of needs.
Equal opportunities for progression and promotion.
We invite you to share what you #ChooseToChallenge.
